Ashtanga style yoga can be practiced to development of strength and flexibility, functional mobility and meditation through breath focus.
Students learn the set sequence of postures and transitions known in Ashtanga Yoga as the Primary Series and are encouraged to progress at their own comfortable pace according to their unique circumstances.
Through repetition of this sequence of shapes and postures many layers of possibilities within each movement, gesture and action will open up to you creating an intimate awareness of your body.
You will become stable in your legs and confident in the constellation of your limbs in various postures. Working with focus on your internal body, breath and yoga asana can bring you into a calm and meditative state of mind.
The postures in the sequence evolve slowly over time and allow students to choose the depth and intensity of their experience depending how they feel on the day. You will come to know each posture well and be able to practice independently.
Join our weekly yoga classes in the dynamic style of Ashtanga Yoga held conveniently at the Thirroul Community Centre & Library. Our beginners course is held at Coledale Community Centre.
We have practiced this method of yoga ourselves over many years and found great value in it.
Applications can be made for curriculum based mentoring inline with the Yoga Australia mentoring guidelines for techniques, practicum and teaching methodology.
Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years experience practicing yoga and a 200 hr yoga teaching qualification.
