Yoga is not only for health and fitness and for those who pursue it as an exercise alone, you will miss the point entirely. Here is an opportunity to transform by working on what is keeping you stuck. Loosen up that which holds you back. Reduce your physical and mental limitations by taking on the challenges and puzzles inherent in yoga postures.
It is not easy, if it was, there would be no value.
If you are unable to do the full expression of a yoga posture due to any number of reasons, we will not judge you as deficient. We will encourage you to approach the situation in a safe and creative way to slowly, over time, move closer to the full expression of the posture. Not for the sake of making a shape to appease the ego, but for the value that is in moving away from what was not possible before, towards that which becomes possible only through the skillful application of dedication, persistence and patience.
It’s not about IF YOU CAN OR CANT, it’s is all about HOW YOU TRY.
The ideas expressed in this post are not my own. They are an expression of the transmission and influence of great teachers of our time notably; David Garrigues (USA), Eileen Hall (Sydney), Rami Sivan (Sydney), Simon Borg-Olivier (Sydney), Octavio Salvado (Bali), Patanjali and many more.
